Spectral Modulation

Spectral modulation provides the ability to randomly modulate the harmonic partials which make up a waveform. The range of harmonics can be defined anywhere in the frequency spectrum and the parameters which define this range can also be modulated.

Three kinds of modulation are provided. All three can run at the same time.

Harmonic Amplitude Modulation
Harmonic Phase Modulation
Harmonic Frequency Modulation.

The period of modulation can be varied randomly between user defined minimum and maximum values. Timing for the modulation can be free floating or locked to the oscillator cycle.

This feature is offered in the wave draw, additive spectrum and metamorphic oscillators. It can be used to create very unique sounds normally only found in a hardware synth. It is capable of a remarkably clean distortion resembling the air pressure sound of an analog oscillator. Because each harmonic is modulated individually there is little aliasing despite the variations added to the audio spectrum.

Fathom FX

Fathom FX is the effects version of Fathom.

It includes all the filter and effect units.

The oscillators are replaced by a Host Input unit.

The host input can be placed anywhere in the modular signal flow.

Metamorphic Oscillator

Available in Fathom Vector and Fathom CM presets.

This beast of an oscillator features 16 pages of waveform parameters. Perhaps one of the most advanced software oscillators ever created. Every dial can be modulated. Much of the industry’s current oscillator technology is rolled up into a single unit enabling you to perform real-time morphing between any type of sound generation imaginable.

It includes all the features you would expect from Fathom including free-hand wave draw, Bezier curve waveforms, partials modulation, advanced real-time noise generation, frequency distortion, and three types of phase modulation, waveform compression, expansion, multiplication, overdrive, chopping, impulse and frequency pulse control with multiple algorithms, plus features not found in any other oscillator such as skip-cycle processing on every waveform control page.
